Kyle is a leader in KCoe Isom’s food and beverage practice area, specializing in sustainability certifications, audit and financial reporting, accounting services, and inventory management. He genuinely connects with food and agriculture business owners through his vast understanding of these unique industries, including impacts like changing consumer preferences and fluctuating economic challenges.
His recent advice and strategies led to outcomes that include:
- Assisting a food processor through a four-year renewable energy project as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Communicating with the Department of Treasury and helping meet all requirements and deadlines, ultimately increasing the processors working capital by $1.4 million.
- Working with a local food processor to develop inventory costing methodologies that allow for company management to make better and more informed decisions.
- Securing research and development credits and employing other tax-savings strategies for food and beverage companies.
Kyle Rusten joined the firm after working as an auditor for KPMG. He is also a member of the firm’s Non-Financial Assurance Committee and Audit and Attest Committee. He is engaged in driving the firm’s new sustainability assurance practices and accounting standards, and developing internal training courses.
