Carolina Vargas helps farmers gain a clearer understanding of their operations by providing strategic financial insights and performance diagnostics. She works extensively with Snapshot Premium, an annual “checkup” report that highlights both financial health and production performance — helping producers see what’s working well, where challenges may lie, and what kind of support could strengthen their business.
In addition, Carolina supports Pinion’s CFO services, where she partners with farm businesses on budgeting, cash flow management, and turning financial data into practical decision-making tools. She also contributes to the firm’s sustainability and policy efforts, drawing on peer-reviewed research and data analysis to build stronger models and recommendations.
Carolina joined Pinion in 2023, bringing more than a decade of experience in economics and agricultural systems. She earned her undergraduate degree in Economics and History in 2012 and began her career with the National Milk Council as a data analyst before serving in Colombia’s Ministry of Defense and later in the National Planning Department’s budget office. She went on to complete her master’s and PhD in Agricultural Economics, where her research included dairy food systems in Colombia with CIAT (CGIAR) and maize markets in Nigeria with USAID.
Carolina grew up on a dairy farm in Colombia, which continues to shape her perspective and passion for helping producers strengthen their businesses.
