Pinion is now working with the MyAgData tool, approved by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Risk Management Agency (RMA), to submit live coverage reports on behalf of farmers.

The need for accurate, digital reporting is growing as USDA advances its ‘One Farmer, One File’ initiative and FSA moves acreage reporting toward the Geospatially Enhanced Acreage Reporting, or GEAR, system.

The shift is designed to reduce duplicate reporting and create a more consistent digital record across USDA agencies. By 2028, USDA expects producers to submit acreage information digitally, making now the right time for growers to clean up field boundaries, address reporting gaps, and become comfortable with the tools that will soon become standard.

Gather data and file your acreage reports digitally:

  • MyAgData connects directly to your equipment through integrations with John Deere, Case IH, and Climate FieldView — pulling GPS-verified planting data straight from your machinery. Actual planted acres. Actual field boundaries. No manual entry required.
  • No precision ag equipment? No problem. Work off your existing FSA field boundaries so no one is left out based on what technology they own.

What are the benefits?

  • Acreage is reported once and shared with both FSA and RMA.
  • One file. One submission. Less time and fewer errors.

“MyAgData has taken my precision ag data to new levels. The ability to accurately report dryland & irrigated acres for crop insurance has transformed my operation down to cost savings at acreage reporting time, up to harvest reports for crop insurance claims.

Put your precision data to work for you while taking the guessing out of drawing on maps with your crayons.” – Quentin, Nebraska Grower

  • The annual process becomes fairly turn-key, pulling your data from the cloud into the required reports.

“MyAgData is a great tool to help speed up and simplify the acreage reporting process while improving accuracy and simultaneously saving premium dollars on over-reported acres.” – Kristin,  41,000 Acre Grower in Iowa

Get ahead of GEAR

Pinion’s Preflight Check helps proactively align your field boundaries before federal systems enforce compliance. We work with growers to ensure acres are reported accurately and fields are fully aligned with USDA requirements.

“This is the right time for growers to start making the transition,” says Quint Shambaugh, land advisory lead at Pinion. “USDA’s One Farmer, One File is moving the industry toward fully digital acreage reporting by 2028, when paperless reporting will become the standard. With MyAgData, those who start now can clean up boundaries, reduce reporting errors, and avoid a rushed transition later.”
