Resources for BOI Report Approaching Due Date:
Requirement Overview
New this year, there is a requirement under the Corporate Transparency Act that makes it mandatory for business entities to submit details about their “beneficial owners” to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) of the U.S. Department of Treasury.
Pinion is providing information and resources ahead of the reporting requirement’s approaching deadline and mandated action items – to ensure your business avoids unnecessary and costly penalties.
If Your Business Entity Has Not Filed
Time is of the essence if your business has not filed its Benefit Ownership Information (BOI) to meet the January 1, 2025 reporting deadline.
While we believe most businesses can handle this filing on their own with FinCEN, Pinion understands some prefer additional guidance with preparation and filing. Below is information to help you file before the deadline.
Preparations & Action Required
The exemptions are very narrow, so it’s important to be aware of your entity structure and prepare your reporting information:
- Reporting company – including legal name, trade name or DBA, address, jurisdiction of formation and federal ID number.
- Beneficial owners – including full legal name, date of birth, address, identifying number and jurisdiction (identification document), OR a FinCEN identifier.
- Company applicants who made the filing to create the entity – full legal name, date of birth, address, identifying number and jurisdiction (identification document), OR a FinCEN identifier (only applicable for those entities formed on or after January 1, 2024).
